We keep hearing that Ohio is going to decide things this year. Does anyone actually believe this to be the case? There is about a 95-99% chance that Ohio is not the tipping point and it looks more on par with NC this year in terms of importance. I would put CO NV WI VA IA PA FL NC/OH from left to right.

I think it's actually PA. Hillary can still win without Ohio and Florida. Trump needs to get PA in order to win the election

Florida, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin are the states that we need to keep an eye on in this election. Trump needs OH obviously, but if he's losing it, he's already lost the election.

Lol Wisconsin.

The "Trump can't win Wisconsin!!!11!" thing is almost as annoying as the "Hillary can't win Colorado!!1!" meme. If he loses PA and VA, WI might be his last hope.

Even after her worst week in the campaign, she's still up between 4-7 points in the state. If Trump wins WI that means he's already won the race.

Maybe WI isn't Safe D, but I fail to see how it's a toss-up (or anywhere near the tipping point) when it's been consistently more Democratic than the nation as a whole, it was Obama's biggest win among the swing states, even though Romney had Ryan on the ticket, and Trump has not led in a single recent poll there. In fact, most polls show Clinton with a fairly comfortable lead. Republicans who are a much better fit for WI have come up short, so I don't see Trump winning it unless he's already won the PV by at least 3% or so.

The media loves Ohio because it's technically the ultimate bellwhether state, even though it wasn't the tipping point state in 2008 or 2012. It's probably not going to decide this election, either. The deciding states in a nail biter will be PA and FL.

Probably not. The states to watch will be FL and PA.
