Sorry if I missed them, but were any possible specific cause(s) identified for Trump's sudden bump in the polls?

A lot of pundits blame the Comey decision/theatrics...

Regardless, she's got pretty strong polling in CO/VA, as well as a few other states. There may be divergence in swing states and national polling due to her targeted advertising.

It's not so much a bump for trump as a steep decline for Hillary. He's barely gained any support even as she has fallen. But it was definitely correlated with the emails announcement.

The email thing, but it's going to run its course before November.

Forget what Comey said, guys, this anonymous Internet hack has decided that Clinton is guilty after all. I bet there are squad cars en route to her house as I type this.

Hillary being an underwhelming, sloppy and general crappy trainwreck.

It seems she's almost broken and damaged beyond repair, so much that even a great guy like Bernie Sanders endorsing her cannot lift her by much.

While Trump continues to be worse than her, it's (almost) enough to close the gap.

You know basically none of these polls were conducted after he endorsed her, right? Anyway, the primaries are over, you can stop being so salty now.

Trump is getting the email bounce we all knew was coming eventually. It's actually great for her that it got out of the way before the conventions/VP choices. A month from now it will be a distant memory for the American electorate, which has the attention span of a goldfish. Same for how people were silly to think Trump's judge comments would hurt him in the long run. Nobody cares anymore.

Emails. Back in May, it was Trump consolidating support. Back in November, it was lingering questions about her credibility and the attack in France.

There's what Comey said and what the American people think. Most (54%-56%) think that Hillary! is a crook and should have been indicted. That will be hard for Hillary! to overcome.

A combination of the coverage of Hillary's mistakes, and Trump keeping a low profile.

Comey decided to criticize Clinton and not indict her. I thought Clinton hacks were on orders to attack him.

This.

Trump, by the way, has called out Clinton for her using the Clinton Foundation as her hedge fund.  He's alleged that her actions as Secretary of State were impacted by her interest in the Clinton Foundation, and that she profited from this.

Can he possibly make that stick?  Hillary went from a negative net worth to being worth $111 million presently, and she doesn't make anything or have anything to sell but influence.  I think that the difference between blowing Hillary out of the water and getting blown out is making his allegations about the Clinton Foundation allegations stick.

Some of it could just be polling randomness as well, but it is hard to see how Hillary gets much lower than she is now.
