Pence and Clinton both voted in favor of the authorization of force in Iraq. As you might expect, Donald Trump is deeply divided on the issue.

This is an absolutely absurd answer (like most of Trump's answers, quite frankly) that Trump shouldn't be allowed to get away with. It's sad that this (and the countless ridiculous statements he's made throughout the campaign) will just be soon forgotten and it will cost him approximately zero votes.

On top of all that, there is no proof to Trump's claim that he was against the war before it started, as noted by Politifact. And in fact there was some evidence he was for it.  So it is kind of a stupid line of attack for Trump to begin with.

It's okay for other politicians to make mistakes, but not Hillary Clinton? Donald Trump states what a lot of Americans subconsciously believe.

You're only accountable for the Iraq War if you have a vagina.

Sad thing is, Clinton can't really feature these cognitive gymnastics in an attack ad because it would just draw attention to her own Iraq War vote.

I was thinking the same thing. She won't attack him on this for that reason.

In a debate setting, she could.

Trump: "Your vote for the Iraq war is just another piece of evidence that you're unqualified for the presidency."

Clinton: "I find it incredibly hypocritical for you to quantify me as unqualified based off a vote that your own hand picked vice presidential nominee also voted in favor of."

But Trump has to make the attack first, and I'm sure his debate preparations will include a memo that instructs him not to do so.

At worst, Pence as VP entails that Trump cannot attack Hillary for her vote on the Iraq War. However, such an attack probably wasn't reasonable or prudent in the first place. Lest we forget, George W. Bush remains popular among Republican voters, and Trump doesn't need to divide his party even further by attacking the War in Iraq at rallies all over the country.

Odd how the Trump hacks are mysteriously absent from this thread.

This basically removes the Iraq War as an avenue of attack for Trump. Thank you 60 Minutes!

Seems like that would be walking into a trap as Obama did the same thing.

Eh, I doubt it. The attacks will likely continue, as how many people even know Pence voted for it, and how many even care what the VP did?
