I don't know if that was his intention, but the line certainly raised my eyebrows.

He explicitly mentioned the bill of rights in that part. The 14th amendment isn't in the bill of rights.

However, Obligatory reminder that Cruz holds the "it's a state issue" position on SSM.

What happened was entirely on the Trump campaign for letting Ted Cruz do what Ted Cruz does.

I had assumed that Manafort and Cruz would have come to an understanding and Cruz would at least give a tepid endorsement. The fact that they gave him a prime spot without having that endorsement shows they were desperate for speakers and disorganized.
