Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

This was a pretty good speech. I think he will experience a slight increase in the polls.

Most Americans will be too tired to answer these polls after this long speech.

Probably, but I think the length sucked some of the energy out of it.

It's been an hour and 10 minutes so far. When's the last time an acceptance speech was this long?

Never in the televised era. I bet most of the audience tuned out halfway through

Well, at least there were no apocalyptic riots on the streets of Cleveland.

There's the silver lining, at least.

Overall, that was relatively strong and a surprisingly normal speech for him.  It was also about the most economically left wing he has ever gone so far.  Long speech, but I don't think Trump hurt himself tonight.

Nor do I think he especially helped himself either.

Too early to tell, especially with a good amount of the audience coming from cable. They may have a preliminary number soon, but most likely, a number won't be known until morning.

As far as the speech being "too long," 74 minutes was probably by design. It went into the 8 pm hour on the West coast and went through the time of the late local news in the East.

You won't get the Nielsen overnight TV ratings until tomorrow.

Rumor was they were expecting the speech to go around 50-55 minutes with all the applause.  It ran longer - about 20-30 minutes too long for my tastes.
