Bernie's appeal was with millennials and people who rarely or never voted. Polls would significantly underestimate this demographic and the 65+ crowd would probably swing hard against him. We would all be having debates about the demo make up of age groups - I would say the race, as in what the polls would measure, would be roughly even.

Would be interesting to see how much media attention Gary Johnson would be getting in a world where Sanders is the nominee.  I mean, between the Dems nominating a self-described socialist and the GOP nomination a Trump, surely a good number of pundits would say that Johnson is no more unserious an option for president than what the major parties have put up.
