2008 or 2012? However, Obama would have won both times I think.

2012. Some people wanted a Giuliani/Perry or a Perry/Giuliani ticket.

The map remains unchanged:

✓ President Barack Obama (D-IL)/Vice President Joe Biden (D-DE): 332 EVs.; 51.3%
Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NY)/Governor Rick Perry (R-TX): 206 EVs.; 46.9%

288: Barack Obama/Joe Biden - 48.6%
250: Rudy Giuliani/Rick Perry - 48.5%
Others - 2.9%

Obama and Biden make more of an attempt in Missouri and Indiana, helping Gregg and Nixon there. With the gaffes of Akin and Mourdock, it not only hurts the latter two. It also helps the President in those states, as voters realize both major candidates are pro-choice. As such, Akin and Mourdock separate themselves from Giuliani, hurting their own campaigns AND Giuliani's in those states, as neither their hardcore loyalists vote for him nor does Rick Perry manage to turn out evangelicals in those two states.
