And apparently team Ted Cruz is one of the prime perps. The Pub party is an utter cesspool at the moment. It's just awful. Here is the squibb from an article in Politico today:

"5. Gay-friendlier GOP? The Republican Party’s 2016 platform remains as socially conservative as always, thanks to the work of religious conservatives allied with Cruz. It includes no mention of LGBT rights or protections and enshrines the concept of marriage as “a union between a man and a woman” despite polls showing that most Americans support same-sex marriage.
The head of the Log Cabin Republicans, the party’s most influential gay, lesbian and transgender rights group declared the language “the most anti-LGBT platform in the party’s 162-year history. ... Opposition to marriage equality, nonsense about bathrooms, an endorsement of the debunked psychological practice of 'pray the gay away' — it's all in there.”

Meaning…the Republican Party is out of touch with the period in which we are living.

Yeah…this is part of what a realigning period looks like.

If you look at politics like a sport…it’s great for the Democrats.

Exactly why I left the party. Good people may control it on the outside, but the lunatic insiders still have final say. Not good!

Yeah in Presidential Years its great for Democrats when their Presidential Candidate is on the top of the ballot of late. In mid-terms years not so much of late.

Well, that's depressing. It is very disappointing seeing crap like this still exist, but at least it's just a gesture, not like any of this would ever find itself in legislation.

Same Sex Marriage was first challenged legally in the State Supreme Court of Hawaii in 1991.

Internationally, the first nation to adopt same sex marriage was the Netherlands in 2001.

The first US State to legalized same sex marriage was Massachusetts in 2004.

They also endorsed conversion therapy, and apparently a lesbian Republican tried to get some things included like a condemnation of terrorist attacks that killed lgbt people, and the convention wouldn't even approve acknowledging that the victims were lgbt.  Wow.

It would eventually if they win a few consecutive elections.  If you don't condone this sort of behavior, don't reward it.

That is not really relevant to the condemnation of terrorist acts.

Of course I don't condone this but lol at the idea of voting Democrat, I'm not a one issue voter. Also, I really don't think most GOP politicians even have the intentions of passing this kind of legislation. Trump certainly wouldn't, and hell, even Ted Cruz said one time that overturning Obergefell vs Hodges was low on his priority list, Ted F'ing Cruz!

What I meant was a majority of the nation wasn't for Gay Marriage till like early 2010's(late 2011-early 2013 period.) The Democrats at the national level didn't have Same Sex Marriage in their platform till like 2012 I think. I'm somewhat not surprised that Massachusetts(State Voters) was for Gay Marriage in 2004 because its a very liberal state on social issues.

Why would such a hedonistic party like the GOP every support the rights of gays to settle down? Marriage must be preserved as an institution that they can weasel out of after they get bored.

I'm not a one issue voter either, but some issues are more important than others to me.  I could never vote for a party whose platform includes blatant discrimination.

Good grief.  How on earth could anyone be offended by that platform?  It merely spells out what every one of us knew to be true when we were kids.  Get over it!

Kids aren't know for thinking abstractly or having any nuance.

Or actually knowing how to craft policy.
