My car (Audi A3 Sportback) is now 7 years old and it will probably last another 5-10 years until it breaks down or the repairs are going to cost a ton.

It's already quite a fuel-efficient car (4.2 liters/100km), but I think about going all-Green with my next car.

And by then, Tesla probably has some good electric cars out and the initial problems are likely all solved.

The money should not be a problem, I have it. And who knows, maybe the Austrian govt. will introduce some good subsidies for buyers of electric cars in the next decade.

Anyone else having experience with electric cars ?

If I had a lot of money, my current car was broken, and lived in an area close to a network of many refueling stations, it would be my first choice.  However, none of those conditions currently apply, let alone all three.

No, but when I helped my sister buy a new house a couple years ago, I made certain that it was pre-wired to place a 50 A 240 V  outlet for a car charger in case plug-in hybrids or electrics took off. It only cost a little bit and should be a plus for its value when the time comes to sell as it won't require a major lump of money.

One of my Ingress teammates has one. I've ridden in it before.

IT. IS. AMAZING.

The new Model 3 will be sold for ~30.000€ (33.000$).

You don't really have to be rich for that.

Anyway, I'm also looking what Audi and BMW will offer in the next decade.

I'd like to, if I can afford it, after I get my license. I'd still hate driving, but at least I wouldn't be feeling like I'm ruining everybody else's life along with my own.

I've seriously considered it. Our finances aren't quite to the point I can justify putting a reservation in on the Tesla 3, but I hope within 5 years that I'll buy one.
