Let's get this rolling! Once we're all sworn in, we can start the process of selecting a Speaker.

Indeed. I'll open the floor for nominations for speaker for 24 hours.

Not to intrude, but you all really need to fine-tune your Constitution. I just read through it for the first time, and it's filled with errors: references to the non-existant offices of "CJO" and "Assemblyman," seeming indecision over the official name of the Region (the preamble refers to "Fremont," other passages speak of a "Western Region"... which is it?), ambiguity regarding the role, powers, and appointment of the "Elections Officer," etc.
Which is why I voted No. I am sure we will address this during this session.

I will be posting a little soliloquy about this in my office thread later today.

I was under the impression that candidates for Speaker need to accept the nominations in this thread. Is that the case?

Sorry for the delays, I was resolving a rules issue related to the vote.

A 24-hour vote for Speaker of the Assembly is now open. Please vote.

I may as well post it here:

I don't like to make excuses, so I'll say it: I screwed up on the Fremont Constitution. I didn't proofread to the extent that was clearly necessary, and as a result we're having problems. Luckily, this is something we can fix with a Constitutional Amendment -- I do plan to introduce one to fix inconsistencies and mistakes, and generally solve the problem. Hopefully we can get this out of the way as soon as possible. Tongue
