Who do y'all think will challenge a maybe fatally weakened Ted Cruz in the Republican Senate Primaries in 2018? Two names who i think could challenge him and beat him would be Former Texas Governor Rick Perry and Representative Jeb Hensarling.

Jeb Hensarling is quite well-positioned in the House and Perry is damaged.

Henry Bonilla or Anthony Villalba would be my picks. Perot, Jr., would be very interesting.

I've noticed that Steve Stockman has been pretty pro-Trump.

What makes you so sure the speech was disastrous? Heck, if trump loses, he's all the better for jumping ship.

L.D., Disloyalty to the GOP will cost him and it could cost him his Senate seat.

Cruz did the right thing. Trump isn't a Republican.

Then why did he get the Republican nomination? I know that you have some sort of strange dictionary that defines the words "Republican" and "anti-establishment" as "something that JCL likes", but please, get a grip.

He's gonna be fine.

Nobody in the establishment is going to have it out for him, and when Trump loses he'll be one of the rallying points in DC.

To any constituents  that take offense, I suspect his "Trump attacked my wife" defense is probably going to work.

Cruz attacked Donald Trump's wife Melania first. People in the Cruz Campaign sent nude photos around from when she was a model.

Such challenge would go nowhere.

Interesting random question: Would the Trumpster back a primary challenger if he somehow ends up as prez? Honestly, if I where Trump, I would probably do it (as president).

Mohamed,I would if I were Donald Trump.

I'd take a look at polls first (though early polls don't mean that much; nobody expected Eric Cantor to lose his primary back in 2014) to avoid the risk of losing.

It wasn't the Cruz campaign.

I doubt Cruz has much to worry about.

A sitting congressman would have to lose a seat  in order to challenge Cruz, and most individuals would have low name recognition. Stockman ran against Cornyn in the 2014 senate primary, and managed 20 percent of the vote.

Cruz beat Trump in the Texas presidential primary, so it wasn't that significant a Trump state.

Then there's the factor of Trump's reputation in 2018. He'd have to remain well-regarded by a significant chunk of Senate primary voters. In the current election his appeal in the presidential primaries hasn't extended to congressional primaries.

If Cruz was to be primaried over this, it certainly wouldn't be by Rick Perry, let alone George P. Bush.

According to Alex Jones, Rep. John Carter says Cruz is finished and Perry will run.

I kind of doubt this is legit considering the source, but if true, get ready for Cruz's re-election. He would disembowel moron Perry without breaking a sweat.

I'd hate to see all the money sucked up in safe-R Texas instead of going to competitive states, but Cruz vs. Perry would be such a fun race. Seeing Cruz murder Perry would be a satisfying conclusion, as well.

Wonder who (probably 'who' and not 'if' at this point) will challenge Flake. I would think he'd be much more vulnerable to a Trump-revanchist challenge. Maybe Jan Brewer, continuing the theme of hilarious has-been Governors?

Hopefully no one, but the Trump wing of the party is so utterly braindead I wouldn't be surprised to see a joke like Steve Stockman run and lose.

Saw this in the most recent CNN/ORC poll (the one with Trump +3):
