And we now have a spreadsheet that suggests that there was a little pay-for-play going on between the DNC and their donors, peddling influence for appointments to federal boards and commissions.

Spreadsheet is attached to the Daily Caller story and redacted.
Donors are very regularly given positions on federal commissions. It will remain that way until Citizens United is overturned, something that if I remember correctly only one of the parties is aiming to do.
The party engaging in pay-for-play, right?
You could call it that, even if that is not what it is.  Will you condemn the Republican party for doing the same?  Most of the Congressional Interns on the Rep side are made up of kids of wealthy contributors, same with the staff members.  It happens all the time.

I condemn the whole system. With that said, no changes in laws is going to change a thing about the system. "To the victor goes the spoils" has been true since the founding of the Republic.
