St. Charles, County, Missouri is a suburban county near St. Louis. It's a Republican stronghold. Home of controversial conservative pro life 2012 Senate candidate Todd Akin and Congresswoman Ann Wagner. In 2012, Mitt Romney won the county. In 2008, John McCain won the county. Will Donald Trump's positions on some issues cost him suburban Republican support in this county?

As someone with a little bit of knowledge of Missouri/St. Louis, Trump should win St. Charles County, but I would not be surprised if there was movement in the more educated suburbs closer to the Missouri River to Clinton while Trump gains in the more working class white flight areas. A net swing towards Clinton wouldn't surprise me, but neither would a swing towards Trump.

Trump is not going lose enough social conservatives for a county like St. Charles to go to Hillary.

She still won it, against an opponent that alienated people in a way that trump almost certainly will.

We really shouldn't be talking about many counties that were 55%+ for one candidate in the past. Most counties are just too Democratic or Republican to flip, no matter their demographics. In this case, Trump might lose a few points from Romney but it won't be very consequential and he'll definitely win the county.
