From a moral and ethical side, anyone who sacrificed a portion of their life to help others (i.e. Kaine's missionary work) has to have some good human qualities.

You're not going to agree with someone's policy positions 100%, but his life's story is solid. He devoted a year to mission work in Honduras and learned Spanish. Fought for housing non-discrimination. Fought against the NRA after Virginia Tech. Against capital punishment. I like a lot of his background.

I don't get why people don't like Kaine. He's a great choice, and a solid progressive, especially considering he represents a swing state.

Kaine adds no enthusiasm, he's an obnoxiously safe choice for a candidate that is constantly getting flack for being overly risk averse.

Well when your running against a psychopath, stable looks good.

Clinton didn't need to pick a walking bottle of Nyquil to project stability.

Oh for heaven's sake.  Politics aren't supposed to be entertainment.  Tim Kaine is a serious, progressive and compelling choice who is absolutely qualified to be President.

You want an "exciting" VP choice?  Then pick Sarah Palin.  But leave the Democrats out of it.

He wasn't my first choice, but he has generally solid credentials and seems like a very respectable man. Clinton/Kaine will represent stability, optimism, and unity. It may not be "entertaining" as many seem to believe politics should be (hint: it's not meant to be a reality TV show), but they are two knowledgeable and experienced individuals who will provide Americans with an infinitely better and more likeable choice than Trump.

This was quite the snub to the Bernie people... This election will be about moderates vs batsh**t crazy.

I think I wont vote for president.

So you have no preference between moderate and batsh*t crazy? How brave.

Btw, if Clinton and Kaine are moderates, so is Obama, who I'm sure you voted for.

I like that he's serious, and I also like that Hillary is serious. I like listening to serious speeches that have substance, rather than the whatever it is that Trump talks about. He turns me so far off into outer space it isn't funny.

I'm happy with this ticket.

This was quite the snub to the Bernie people...

I don't agree at all, in fact I'm struggling to understand how anybody could interpret this as anything other than an entirely reasonable, progressive choice.

Is Tim Kaine perfect?  No, but neither was Bernie Sanders.

What the hell is Donald Trump going to do to address income inequality, or the environment, or racism, or practically anything that matters?  It's a total joke to say that there isn't "enough" of a difference between Clinton and Trump.  There's an enormous difference and it's not just about 'moderate' vs 'batsh**t crazy', it's right versus wrong.  I can guarantee that Donald Trump will never create a single payer health care system.  He's never going to make any meaningful reform to higher education that actually benefits people (his track record on this is creating a scam university, after all).  His foreign policy is beyond insane and the threat of his election is routinely mentioned in international media as a destabilizing event.  So don't think for a second that he's going to do anything productive, or helpful, for the country.  I just hope for the sake of millions of people in the USA who are fearing for their safety and their lives right now, because of the toxic hate speech that the Republicans espouse everyday, that sanity prevails.

Clinton chose the person she sees as the best governing partner. She's not going to pick someone she doesn't click as well with to suck up to Bernie voters. This isn't about them any more.

His progressive credentials are very clear, frankly his position on abortion is really no different to Biden's.

I don't understand this "Kaine is a moderate/conservative" nonsense. He's obviously not Bernie Sanders, but he's a solid, mainstream progressive. People acting like Clinton picked Evan Bayh or Heidi Heitkamp or something. He's arguably to the left of Joe Biden, who most of you had no problem voting for.

Judging from that tweet it doesn't sound very secret.

FT by virtue of whom they oppose. Otherwise would be a rather subpar ticket.
