And here's West Virginia.

As you can see, it was the perfect anti-Kansas until the last midterm. Naturally, it is that lone Republican that gets my vote for worst.

The best is a hard-call between Randolph and Byrd. Byrd objectively wins for most effective in Senate, but both were hyper effective in the Congress overall. I voted for Byrd last year. But further research shifts my vote over to the guy who never was against the CRA at any point.

So yeah, Randolph/Capito

Byrd, Randolph and Manchin are all FF's, Byrd is a  huge FF, yet hugely flawed. Rockefeller, is also very good. Captio, does nothing, so she's the worst. Picked Randolph for best, due to Byrd's faults.

Randolph/Captio.

Byrd is the word.

I'll say Capito for worst, mostly cuz the others are all FFs.

Byrd/Byrd

Literally tried to pull (with his teeth if need be) every federal grant, every federal job he could into a state with little other prospects.

Really did resort to some truly racist tactics in his rise to the top.

Not sure what anybody thinks Capito has done.  Seems like the consummate moderate hero, she just hangs out while WV dies off.

Capito does not deserve this level of dislike.

Capito does not deserve this level of dislike.

She's the only Republican, and this is a overwhelmingly Democratic forum, so nothing too shocking.

Less damage than the jokes she's up against.

Closed

And just like Washington, Byrd wins best (by 32.3%) and worst (by 38.7%).

She broke the anti-Kansas streak, that's damaging enough far as I'm concerned on its own. Wink

And that's not considering her being a useless MH against these Democrats, unlike a lot of liberal states which always have an elected straggler were pretty much all powerhouses.

#WatchWVdie

Even in the recent flood disaster it's Manchin that's going to FEMA to try and get a 90-10 match, instead of 75-25 which WV clearly can't afford.  Capito just shakes her head and just says how sad everything is.

Nice of Shelley to give a Moderate Hero interview right on cue.  So empty, so worthless.  If I had read this before I voted, I could have been swayed to vote Capito for worst and given her the victory for worst over Byrd.
