That is tough.

Scenario: Bernie goes completely rogue after the Wikileaks and endorses Johnson - "We have to stop the two party system." Economy worsens, Obama's approval ratings drop and he stops campaigning with Clinton. Trump gets a little bit crazier and a lot of moderate Republicans start endorsing Johnson.

I gave Johnson the states where I don't consider Trump/Clinton or the Republican/Democratic machine to be the particularly strong - this is what I came up with. Texas, along with a couple other states, were a bit of a stretch, but I had to get over 270 somehow.

Johnson - 296
Clinton - 146
Trump - 96

hmm another scenario for the above map

It comes out Manafort is a Russian agent, Trump is shown to be backed by Putin and goes nuttier

Sanders withdraws endorsement, Jeb and Romney endorse Johnson and maybe Cruz in this scenario.

Economy crashes, Obama approval tanks and Clinton has another scandal.

Also someone needs to get Johnson a better speech coach or something.

270: Gary Johnson/William Weld - 36.0%
141: Hillary Clinton/Tim Kaine - 30.3%
127: Donald Trump/Mike Pence - 28.0%
Jill Stein/David Cobb - 4.9%
Others - .8%

I looked at some of Johnson's best states in 2012 and also included some states that Bernie Sanders won since some of his supporters could go to him.

Johnson: 270
Clinton: 196
Trump: 72

Might as well go all the way, since we're discussing the impossible.

IIRC Georgia has been a strong libertarian state in the past - that hasn't been featured in any of the maps thus far.

Would be nice, but I think the realistic scenario is no one gets 270, Johnson at least wins Utah and the Congress decides on Johnson because he's the most liked/least hated.

We are a big Libertarian state. If Johnson were to get to 270, GA would be one to help him.

This is a thread more suited to the fantasy elections board, but whatever.
