Which areas of Michigan can Donald Trump do the best in to win the Wolverine State's electoral votes in November? Can he do well in the Detroit suburbs?

The Upper Peninsula, central MI, but he won't offset a 16 point or more loss in Oakland County

Grand Rapid's suburbs, Livingston County, and the far northeastern part of the lower peninsula.

That's about it.

Find areas dominated by white working class whites that are older, with few minorities in their midst, that have few unionized workers, and are not within the Dutch Calvinist belt (highly religious folks tend to shy away from Trump), and you will find Trump's best areas in Michigan - at least on a swing/trend basis.

Macomb County of course, because it's the habitat of all the Reagan Democrats!

You joke, but Trump could win Macomb. It's not that Democratic to begin with. Bush won it in 2004.
