I don't see why we should hold book publishers at gunpoint to publish something they don't wanna publish. If you believe they should be, then okay, but call yourself what you are: an authoritarian.

Publish your own damn book.

This is a serious, violent incident that goes against ABA’s ends policies, values, and everything we believe and support. It is inexcusable.

Called it a violent incident lmao.
Amazon has had issues with allowing the selling of Mein Kampf.

They have trouble keeping it in stock.
It is popular among Neo nazis and among fundamentalist Muslims.

To those saying free speech as a principle only applies when it's the government censoring speech, do you also think there's no free speech issue when schools ban Harry Potter books and LGBT fiction because it's a "bad influence on the kids"?

This isn't about publishers, it's about suppliers and distributors. Nobody is being forced to publish anything against their will. Maybe read the article next time!

No, the distributor seemed fine with sending the book out. The complaints came from individual booksellers, one of whom identified as a "fat-bodied person."

No, it isn't about distributors either. Distribution is done by wholesalers and also by publishers directly. A booksellers association is a traders association, though in practice they often function more like trade unions for bookshops (I can't comment on how true that is of this booksellers association as I'm less familiar with it than the BA here). The confusion here stems from publishers and wholesalers - who, after all, want their stock sold - often give a substantial number of books to organisations such as booksellers associations as promotional material. Sometimes these books are proof copies (which cannot be sold), but often they the finished article. Traditionally these free books are made available at conferences, conventions and so on, but it appears that this particular booksellers association is in the habit of direct-mailing them to individual shops. This is not the same as distribution, which is a conventional business transaction and occurs at vastly higher volumes. Are we all clear now?
