Didn’t originally intend for this to happen, but I’ve got to start a new thread for the second half of the convention.  First thread is here:

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=241633.0

Sorry guys, but Dave wants us to keep threads to under ~2000 replies or so, and the old thread would go way beyond that if I left it open another day or two.

Wednesday & Thursday: speeches begin at 4:30pm

Schedule:
https://www.c-span.org/convention/?party=dnc&day=1469602800
https://www.demconvention.com/event-categories/july-27/

So, uh, someone projected this convention would be a bigger cluster than the Republican Convention.

You can still change that projection, if you want.

I wonder why they're cramming Kaine into an already star studded night. He isn't the most interesting guy, but it seems a bit odd.

Had she picked a really good orator, I wonder if that person would have the same slot as Kaine.

Have you seen him speak? He is a really good orator.

He actually seems like a pretty good orator. The only question I have is whether or not Kaine should go before or after Obama. Personally I think Obama should go last, but I also don't think it would be fair to Kaine to not get his night as VP.

For the record, primaries that were overturned by superdelegates (not counting WA) include MI, IN, WV, MT and lol NH.  WY was the sole caucus overturned.

The Underwoods are [at least according to the nonsensical rules that govern HoC's universe] highly skilled politicians. The Clintons are not.

I could see the argument for Hillary not being a skilled politician, but Bill is undeniably incredibly politically gifted.

The both of them are extremely skilled.  Just in extremely different ways.  Bill's always been the one who held the lofty ideals, while Hillary recognized the that those can't happen.  They always brought out the best in the other.  Him pushing her to greater goals, while she always brought him back down to earth.

I don't think this was on the schedule before, but Chris Murphy is speaking around 8.

You're really a Sanders hack aren't you?
Bill Clinton won 2 presidential elections and Hillary probably at least 1.

He was pretty good in his prime, but he's mostly lost touch lately. Hillary was always mediocre and she's proving it every day.

Yes, I'm bitter. You know why I'm bitter? Because a narcisistic pathological liar backed by a hostile, regressive, imperialistic autocracy is currently leading in the polls to become the leader of the country I live in. This should not happen, and it would not be happening if the Democrats had actually ran a good candidate.

I didn't think this deserved it's own thread, but it was very humorous so I felt it needed to be posted.

Trump apparently mixed up Tim Kaine with Tom Kean:

Trump referenced Tim Kaine doing a poor job "in New Jersey" twice before someone corrected him.

Even before the convention boost, she's still leading.

OK, sure, she's still leading by a point or two. I like my probability of a narcisistic pathological liar backed by a hostile, regressive, imperialistic autocracy becoming the leader of the country I live in to be lower than "slightly less likely than not".

I wouldn't consider it just slightly less likely than not. Closer to a 70-30 odds gap is where I think the race is at the moment.
