Usually, conservatives are anti-abortion and pro-death penalty. Liberals are pro-abortion and anti-death penalty. Conservatives say: "Liberals are bad. They think that the worst murders should not be executed, but they accept killing innocent little babies". Liberals say: "Conservatives are bad. They accept killing human beings, but they think that a woman should not be allowed to choose between keeping a group of homogeneous cells inside her body or not".

So, it will be a hard question for both liberals and conservatives: if you have to choose between both legal abortion and death penalty or both illegal abortion and death penalty, what you would choose?
Consider that you don't have the possibility to choose the conservative combo (illegal abortion, legal death penalty) or the liberal combo (legal abortion, illegal death penalty)

I'm more-or-less liberal and support both legalized abortion (albeit while being ambivalent about Roe v. Wade) and an end to the death penalty (with the exception of mentally sane prisoners who genuinely want to get executed, that is).

I didn't read all that, but I support legalized abortion (until third trimester) and support keeping the death penalty.

What about the risk of executing innocent people, though?

If we're not going to craft our hypothetical punishments on the assumption that our criminal justice system can be trusted, then what's the point?

Conservative: No abortion, no death penalty.

I oppose both separately anyway.

I'd like to see no abortion (there are realistic alternatives) and no death penalty. Win-win for me.

Oppose abortion, and am I'm fine with the death penalty, with caution, for extreme cases.

I already am option 3, though I do think the death penalty should only be used sparingly.

Which issue I'd choose to prioritize would depend on the status quo on each.

In the US context, the death penalty is enforced in a particularly barbaric and vicious way, whereas "abortion rights" as they stand are basically reserved to rich women anyway. So I'd rather ban both.

This is simply statistically not true.
