All of it. (Except the last.) His deals with organized crime in New York early in his career are well documented.

He's donated to Planned Parenthood, EMILY's List, Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign, etc.

He's probably cheated his way into getting richer.

He most likely has ties to Russia, as evidenced by his public admiration and increasing support for Putin.

He has no doubt not donated any money to any charities.

The last time he released his tax papers, (late 70s/early 80s) they showed that he paid zero taxes.  So that is also a definite possibility.

I forgot to add an option for "legal tax avoidance."  Him not only taking public money, but weaseling out of paying any taxes by using every loophole available.  Trump would be exposed as a net drain on the public coffers.

Likely 2, 3  and 4.

He is (property minus debt) not a billionaire. His net worth is likely between 150 and 250 million dollars. If at all. So, fake billionaire.

He had ties to the mafia in the 1980s (buying concrete for his buildings). So, organized crime is likely still one of his businesspartners. Russia probably not. Doing business with the Russians is not illegal or questionable in general, but would prove that he lied (if no illegal things).

As journalists already pointed out, he has done nothing or next to nothing for charity. He even donated for the veterans earlier this year only after this was publicly exposed.

And he doesn't pay much or any taxes by reporting no or almost no income. That doesn't mean he broke the law, but would be morally questionable.

What remains? The dude who happens to be the GOP nominee is a total fraud.

I think we have a winner here. In other news, the excuse that his returns are in audit as the reason he is hiding them, is total BS. What difference does it make that they are in audit, other than that suggests the content of those returns has "problems." The voters deserve to be informed about those problems Donald! A feral cat has more ethics than Donald.

At least options #2, #3, and #4.

Donald Trump is not billionaire. He's probably worth $50 million-$250 million. He's a terrible businessman and he's donated almost nothing to charity. Options #1 and #5 are also plausible.

All of them, except the first and last.  In the other category, I would add 1. not paying taxes (legally) and 2. some dubious financial connections to people who were either accused or indicted of criminal deeds.  Having some experience on how the NYC real estate development is done, I suspect that we may be hearing more on this as the campaign develops.

All of the above.

Plus, there is no upside to releasing them.

If he was worth that little, his plane alone would be ruinous. Bloomberg, Forbes, and other wealth lists have gone over Trump's assets in detail and have come up figures, while considerably less than what he claims his net worth is, are clearly in the billions. Now there could be some debts they don't know about, but $3-4 billion, given the relative size of his assets, would be pushing the limits of plausibility. But who knows what he could be hiding.

I guess there is a reason that people think we need to see a candidate for President's tax returns. But to me, it's kind of like an employer wanting to do a credit check on us before they hire us. What business is it of theirs anyway?

I think it's an invasion of privacy, really.

There is no law that states candidates must show their tax returns, so if they choose not to, maybe we need to accept that answer and move forward. If some candidates choose to show their tax returns, then that's ok too.

I do think, however, that Trump is hiding plenty of damning information in his tax returns. Wink

First three, Number four has already been shown, but it hasn't affected him. Number five is pretty much a given since he's involved in New York/New Jersey real estate.

Donald Trump doesn't pay his taxes, which is why he thinks it's appropriate to belittle the American people and hold them in contempt by withholding his returns.

Donald Trump treats his financial activities much like he treats his marriages: like a big joke.

We already know he has financial ties to Russia.  Some Russian billionaire bought a house that was appraised for $55m from Trump for $100m and never even lived in it.

Also seems a pretty safe bet he doesn't donate to charity.

The organized crime links are well documented and would all be launsered anyway.  Most of those are probably from the 80s.

My something else bet?  A consistent pattern of suspicious transactions right before politicians signed off on his stuff.  Exposing corruption in all his new york friends probably isn't something he wants to do since it would severely damage his credibility and ability to conduct his business on returning home
