Wow, I wonder if Republicans - who believe this to be a terror organization or hate group - will disavow!

Nice. Not a fan of most BLM, but this one seems like a reasonable chapter. Portman should use this as the police union endorsement as an opportunity.

He should market this as a sign that he's a consensus builder and coalition builder.

TF is going on with groups in Ohio? First unions endorse Portman and now BLM? The DNC needs to pull Strickland's funding and pour it into Missouri and North Carolina. Right now it looks like Kander and Ross have a better chance in November. Strickland bungled this race.

Well, Strickland still seems rather likely to be pulled over the line on election day. Endorsements matter very little in most races.

TBH, endorsements like this matter little.

Strickland does face an uphill climb, but endorsements are the least of his worries. There's the fundraising deficit.

I've always thought that the Ohio Senate race was not as competitive as thought, and I think this is just another good sign. Strickland was always a weak candidate in my book.

Portman and Kasich have had pretty good relationships with BLM and NAACP in Ohio. Their police community commission may have a part in this.

This probably isn't going to make much of a difference. Portman will certainly overperform Trump, but the question is by how much, and how well Trump does in Ohio.

This entire article is describing how the national BLM movement, and its official chapter in Cleveland, is rejecting this endorsement by a fringe, off-shoot group also in Cleveland.

Watch African Americans become a swing vote in this race. Portman is unstoppable at this point Strickland is finished. You might as well dig his political coffin because his political career is through.
This. Portman and Kasich are good to the African American community. If Portman or Kasich were the 2016 GOP nominee, Democrats would really worry about getting less than 90+ of the black vote and 70+ of the Latino vote.

If it's not an official chapter then this really doesn't amount to much.

Lyin' Steve:

Cuyahoga County has about 1,300,000 people. It's about 30%(29.7% to be exact) African American. That's ~386,100 African Americans.

The damage has been done.  People only read headlines anyway, so the misinformation has already started spreading and won't be stopped.

If Strickland loses to Portman, he can:

1) Run for Ohio governor in 2018 (He could beat Mike DeWine or Jon Husted)
2) Run for Ohio's 6th congressional district again against Bill Johnson (Romney won that district 55-43).
(Trump may overperform Romney there due to his white working class appeal)
3) Run for DNC chair in 2017
4) Cabinet position in a Hillary Clinton administration
5) Liberal think tank

He's 74 right now and will be 75 by the time of the election. If he loses to Portman, this is his last hurrah.

It's crazy how little conservatives know about what BLM is, that they can be fooled by headlines like this.

He's really getting up in age, but seems to show no signs of slowing down. If he doesn't want to go into retirement, he can probably join a liberal think tank (wasn't he part of one between losing the 2010 governor race and entering the Senate race?). I'm sure the DNC would probably favor someone younger as chair. He could beat DeWine or Husted in 2018 (the former, like Strickland, has been around for a long time), but he'd have lost two consecutive statewide races, while DeWine is 5-2 statewide, and the Democrats will probably want someone else to run (Tim Ryan or Richard Cordray). Clinton (if she wins) appointing him to her cabinet is not unreasonable, though I wonder what he'd get. Running for OH-06 may not be a bad idea for him, he still seems pretty popular in his old district.
