The male Youtube community has reacted very negatively to the new Ghostbusters, believing it to be part of a feminist, SJW agenda. I hate the original Ghostbusters, so I don't care. Your thoughts?

I hold the belief that Jim Gaffigan would be great in a Ghostbusters movie, and I refuse to aknowledge any Ghostbusters movie as good until he is in one.

The movie sucks for unrelated reasons, and accusing critics that point this out of being sexist and associating them with the "male youtube community" is an effective PR weapon.

To answer the question, it's a freedom decision, but that does not make the movie worth seeing on it's own.

The movie was above average. Of course it's not better than the original, but I don't understand why there's a significant amount of hate for it.

Everyone who's really critical of it will usually preface their statement with, "it has nothing to do with the all female cast." I get that a few would call them sexists right off the bat, but I had no intention on calling them misogynists. It's almost like they protest a bit too much.

Regardless, I'd wait for DVD to watch it if I were you.

Unnecessary reboots of beloved (at least among certain fairly large segments of the population) movies are almost always horrible decisions. Add on that they intentionally waved the middle finger to fans of the original and decided they could make the most money by making/marketing the film an anti-male feminist issue movie make this even worse (the finale is proof of both).

There was a way to reboot Ghostbusters with an all-female main cast and not have it be this bad, but it would've involved someone other than Paul Feig directing and a whole different main cast. Maybe someone like Tina Fey involved. Not sure exactly; I'm not a fan of comedies in general so I can't say for sure who would be ideal.

Haven't seen it, but from what I hear, it was more a reshoot than a reboot. That's the apparent problem with it, other than an all female main cast and the ubiquitous overused 3D, it had nothing new to offer.

Yeah, I finally saw the original version a couple weeks ago when it was on TV.  I wasn't impressed and I didn't understand all the hype for it when it was over.
