Am I the only one who thinks newspaper endorsements is a bad idea?

Why do you think they're a bad idea?

Calls into question over journalism objectiveness. Even though it's from their editorial board, it does give a vibe that their endorsement might affect their reporting a bit.

To quote an old journalistic adage: "News is sacred...comment is free".
I would argue the opposite as I like editorial endorsements, although they will not necessarily sway my opinion.

By allowing editorial opinions, the media can focus on independent reporting, without the need to "influence" news. Of course, human nature being what it is, individual biases are always to be expected.

Cincinnati Enquirer endorses Clinton after a century of endorsing Republicans.

Certainly a major shift for the Enquirer editorial policy. Love this quote:

"Do we really want someone in charge of our military and nuclear codes who has an impulse control problem?"

Who wants to bet that Clinton will use it at the debate?

The Arizona Republic endorses Hillary Clinton in its first ever endorsement of a Democrat for President of the United States.

Nice editorial. They actually praised Clinton's experience and not just bashed Trump. You can see that it pains them to do so but good for them for doing it.

Detroit News, a major Michigan daily, comes out with an endorsement for Johnson, rebuking both Trump and Clinton:

Baltimore Sun endorses Clinton (no big surprise there - they endorsed Democrats four times in a row, but she is building momentum):

The really funny part is them using quotes from usually conservative papers (Cincinnati Enquirer) to justify their endorsement.

This is a biggie

USA Today: Don't vote for Trump.

They've never endorsed or unrecommended a candidate in their history, and broke their no endorsement policy. In the anti-endorsement, the USA Today editorial board says that Trump is "unfit for the presidency."
