Nobel Prize-winning economist and liberty advocate Milton Friedman is often cited in support of the claim that open borders is incompatible with the modern welfare state. If a country brings in many low level immigrants, and then gives them more in benefits than they pay in taxes, how can this be sustainable longer term?

Somebody explain how this can be a benefit to the citizens of the USA.
If letting in tens of thousands of low income individuals and then later giving them free health care insurance, education, roads and other benefits, how is this not "taking" from other citizens of the USA who already live here? I'm all for high-skilled immigrants, but isn't this getting insane when politicians are willing to sell out the country for votes?

Oh boy...

1. Clinton does not support open borders
2. There's no welfare state in the US

Either you don't know what 'Open Borders' means, or don't  know Clinton's position on immigration.

I support a transition to open borders; Hillary Clinton does not support open borders.

I like how the Hillary fans won't even respond to you, OP. They can't argue with the truth.

Hillary 100% supports open borders. 550% increase in "refugees" and full amnesty in 100 days. That's open borders and there's no way to ignore that. Disaster!

You should read up on what open borders means. Because this post indicates that you don't know.

Responding to trolls can, sometimes be fun. Responding to stupid trolls never is. I still do not know which kind of a troll you are, but the original post clearly belongs to the latter category Smiley

No, it's no an ad hominem. I presented a response by quoting Centrist above, and you just ignored it. You do not understand what "open borders" means or what Hillary is for. Go look at her campaign page, quote it if you find open borders, and get back to us.

Just throwing words and calling them facts doesn't work. Know what you're talking about or be quiet.

Respond to the facts I presented. One more try:

1. Hillary wants 550% increase in "refugees"
2. Hillary wants to grant full amnesty in 100 days.

And this which isn't confirmed but is 99% likely:

3. She will continue Obama's catch and release and shipping of "refugees" in from Central America.

And that isn't the definition of "open borders". Since that has already been pointed out to you, this is just confirming yourself as an idiot.

Lol'd at the scare quotes.

1. Cite the numbers. Even so, there's no inherent danger in taking refugees.
2. "Pathway to citizenship" /=/ "full amnesty"
3. Good.

You're making the (slightly xenophobic) assumption that the "low-skilled" immigrants won't work and will simply sit around getting welfare checks. 1) Immigrants do work, 2) they are willing to work for lower wages than the people who live here, and 3) they are willing to do jobs that most Americans aren't willing to do.

Sadly, Clinton isn't a supporter of free health care (it's the Affordable Care Act, not the Free Care Act) or college education. She is close, but it isn't enough. Also, lol @ "free roads." I guess somebody told you that free roads were socialist. And thanks for making the distinction between "high-skilled" and "low-skilled" immigrants. As I mentioned before, "low-skilled" immigrants are a cheap source of labor for business and will contribute to society.

But you appear to be tainted by the notion that Clinton supports open borders (like me). Sadly, that's not the case. I recommend you read this, this, and this and report back when you're done.

1. Hillary wants a 550% increase in the refugees being taken in from Syria, and not all refugees as your disingenuous statement tries to put forward. Also, 550% is used instead of 65,000 over 10,000 because it sounds more inflated. Percentages are relative.

2. Hillary vowed to push for "comprehensive immigration reform" within the first 100 days, which doesn't necessarily mean amnesty. But, EVEN IF IT DID, it wouldn't have to do with refugees, but rather those 11m that have been here contributing to the economy for a long time. Reagan did it; Bush did it. Not to mention a pathway to citizenship is not amnesty.

3. "And this which isn't confirmed." You literally say it's not a fact, but assert it as one.

lololol mi cariņo tú no sabe

Hillary isn't for "open borders", she supports a way for undocumented immigrants to finally receive american citizenship within a reasonable amount of time. The current process is unbelievably lengthy (sometimes taking over a decade and thousands of dollars to become a legal citizen) and her plan is literally to make it easier so that these immigrants can not only get better jobs so they and their families can live more comfortably in the United States and to make sure that undocumented immigrants who become citizens are safe here and get to pay taxes as well!

She does support an increase in the number of refugees in the United States, but not the 550% number you're stating. She supports bringing in 65,000 Syrian refugees (and yes, they are refugees trying to flee groups like ISIS/DAESH), but there are over 3,200,000 refugees in the United States right now (not all 65,000 would come all at once), and  just last year 22,000 refugees came to the United States from Africa (I met a refugee from Africa the other day actually, she's a Bernie delegate from Minnesota, absolutely stunning woman). So I'm not sure where you get that number from.

Hopefully you can respond and bring some sources so we can have a debate on the validity of your claims! Smiley
