When even 'Seriously?' has abandoned this thread after page 4, having quietly conceded that Trump's comments were "unwise" (but with a healthy dose of BUT HILLARY thrown in, of course), then you know Trump has really f[Inks]ed up here.

I just read about this.

IMO, Trump has been a real asshole to these parents.

He can only drop in the polls because of this.

I am not, nor should any of you all be, at all surprised that Trump is attempting to Swift Boat the Khan parents. Even with a different presidential candidate, the GOP would have done this (more subtly) anyhow.

Lol at people comparing this to the Benghazi Mom. The obvious difference being that Hillary expressed sympathy for her while still disagreeing with her characterization, as opposed to attacking her and slandering her family in response. You know, like a normal human/presidential candidate would respond.

The Khans say they're done with this public argument. Trump should send them flowers in thanks.

Khizr Khan seems to rattle Mr. Trump significantly. Let's get him on the stump more.

Guess they STUMPED THE TRUMP!

Trump could start by coughing up the entirety of the $6 million he fraudulently claimed to raise for veterans in January.

Unsurprisingly, John McCain has denounced Trump's comments:

I knew John McCain, as a previous war veteran, was going to respond some how.
With Ryan and McConnell releasing a statement, it was inevitable.
Glad to see that McCain is slowly starting to reject the orange haired clown.

Why doesn't Hillary go full throttle and publicly challenge McCain to retract his endorsement of Donald Trump? Or else, the DSCC will make Arizona its #1 target. She should ask him whether he wishes to end his political career on his terms, or whether he wants to go down in disgrace.

I'm certain that if McCain wasn't running for re-election this year, he would have appeared on stage at the DNC to endorse Hillary Clinton.

Clinton and McCain are friends.  Actually this is true of a lot of Republican congressmen who've been around a while, Clinton has a sort of detente with them because she wants to keep a good working relationship.

And it's all Trump's fault.

That is one factor.

Hillary Clinton might think that her chances of reelection are better if she gets along with Republicans in Congress, given the parties advantages with congressional elections (Democrats are probably going to lose a lot of seats in 2018 just because of how many seats they're defending.)

She also might not win a fight with McCain in Arizona. Part of his low approval rating is that some hard-core conservatives don't like him. If HRC attacks him, that'll be a convenient fight heading into a primary.

Clinton is also staying out of it smartly to let Trump's continual own-goals and the denunciation of  normally a-political groups and his own party to do the work. She doesn't need to get into the mud on this.

Trump is killing American values and his supporters are too blinded by hate for anything that threatens Trump to see it. The saddest thing about this is that our country is too polarized to give Clinton even a twenty point landslide when really Trump shouldn't even be cracking twenty percent.
