I'm not really knowledgeable about SA politics, but I would vote for the anti-apartheid parties from 1977-1989 and would vote for Mandela and ANC in 1994. Since than I'd be a reliable vote AGAINST the ANC and its corrupt mess.

1999-2004 would've been easy elections, as I really like Tony Leon, from what I read about him.

2009 and 2014 would be increasingly reluctant votes for the DA.

Another country where I'd find it difficult to fit in politically, but certainly less problematic than some other ones.

EDIT: Also, want to just say, I am so proud of the role South African Jews had in the anti-apartheid movement (Helen Suzman, Harry Schwarz, Jules Browde, Tony Leon, etc...). Its an utter shame that the ANC has spinned enough lies to turn the political establishment against Jews and Israel.

I really hope, one day, that SA will be able to have an actual, unbiased view of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.

Pretty much this, will make a proper list tomorrow. Though I have to say- while I understand the necessity of it, I feel some shame for Israel's cooperation with the apartheid regime.

I agree. Of course, Israel wasn't the only country that did so, but it just shows how the world as a whole is vulnerable to making very awful decisions sometimes.

The murder in South Africa has actually fallen to half the level it was at back in the 80s/early 90s, and as ever, black people are far more likely to be the victims of crime than white people. You can walk round the Golden Mile in Durban, or around Umhlanga after midnight and not have any worries for yours safety.

So say what you want about South Africa, but the crime there isn't getting worse.

Also, people saying Labour party - you are aware that the original incarnation were avowedly white supremacist?

At the same time, the 1984 version were a tricameral era party that you could only vote for if you were coloured. SO while it might be technically possible for a coloured person to have voted Labour pre-apartheid, and in the 1980s, it is highly unlikely any would have.

Anyway, I would have boycotted everything up until the 1992 referendum; would have voted ANC in 1994, 1999, 2014; COPE in 2009 and abstained in 2004.

It was a different Labour Party I think that won a landslide in the 1984 election.

Yes, coloureds only, in elections under the joke "tricameral" system that most coloureds and indians boycotted

I would have supported whichever centre-right party was most closely aligned with the monarchy, English-language rights, and the Commonwealth (generic Anglo answer).

Unionist - > South African -> Dominion -> United -> New Republic

EFF is a literal racist (to Asians and whites joke of a party), no way I'd vote for them since im south Asian. ANC is a corrupt joke of a party. The trots (like all trots) are obnoxious.

If I was black, I'd probably continue to vote for the ANC but I'm not and don't Asians in SA vote for DA? I'm taking into demographic factors into my voting.

I'm would also be uneasy of what could be an ANC-EFF alliance resulting in me further solidifying my  voting for DA.

I would not vote in South Africa, there was and continues to be too much belief in the collectivist myth of "race"

I would have voted "Yes" in 1992. I don't think I would have voted in any of the other ones.
