I couldn't think of a more generic name than "Mike Smith" if I tried.

John Smith?

Some 37 year old rich businessman and veteran from Tennessee and Colorado who decided to run as an independent right around the time Trump got the nomination
Do you know him personally? (Don't remember your previous post about him)

No, I don't.  I'm not voting for him because I don't get the sense of voting for someone who has no chance to win, but I agree with most of his positions and wish him well.

I know. McMullin at least has a small base since he's Mormon, but this guy seems just random.

Gary Johnson wasn't good enough for them. Apparently McMuffin is too Mormon-y.

Some of these people will never be satisfied until Zombie Reagan launches a write-in campaign.

Today is the deadline to submit 5.000 signatures for the VA ballot.

The VA Green Party submitted more than 11.000 signatures, of which ~70% will be found valid (based on recent signature checks in other states).

Also, ID has officially announced that Stein is on the ballot.

Add +12,000 votes.

That brings her total to...

(312,000)

Oh.

Stein is now on the ballot in 37 states + DC.

7 states are pending.

6 states are without Stein on the ballot.

It's certainly likely that she will make it on the Virginia ballot, but she had a very high % of invalid signatures in Georgia, so it is certainly possible she will miss it.

In GA, they submitted 10.000 for 7.500 valid ones.

5.900 were found valid (=59%).

That would easily be enough for VA ...

It's good to know that voters will have a real choice for real change this year. Smiley

It's also good to know that Clinton although she appears as the likely winner of the electoral college (at least at this point in time) will not get a majority of the popular vote. Smiley

Yeah, something like 48% is what a terribly flawed candidate like her deserves in the national popular vote.

And Trump deserves to be held to 40%.

Of course, let's not forget what good buddies Trump and Clinton really are.

Of the remaining 7 states, VA/RI/CT all look like 99.9% sure to have Stein on the ballot.

WY/ND/KY and NH are still unsure (probably enough signatures collected, but the number of valid ones might/might not be enough).

Isn't there a megathread somewhere for also-ran ballot access updates?

There's at least one for McMullin anyway. Should be just a page or two back, since he just recently failed to get on in TN.
