I actually prefer him to a lot of other trolls. He provides an interesting perspective that is under-represented on Atlas.

My guess he was created by the CIA in mid-1980s in anticipation of the world wide web. They planned to construct an obnoxious pro-Soviet sock in order to give them a bad name.
