Bloody Standoff in Iowa

As per Fremont Governor Ted Bessell's orders, National Guard units entered the Johnengleist compound in Ida County, Iowa, engaging in a fierce gunfight with the sect members. Although determined and surprisingly well-armed, the Johnengleist couldn't be a match for trained military men.

Alas, it came with a heavy cost. 87 soldiers are confirmed dead and more than 100 wounded in a bitter room-to-room battle. 345 Johnengleist are confirmed dead, including 12 children caught in the crossfire. Futher 500, including the sect's leader, managed to committ a mass suicide, with the rest being successfully put in custody.

World Voices Confidence In Atlasia

What just a few months ago would've certainly caused at least two civil wars going on simultaneously seems to have no such effect now. While Atlasia is sharply divided politically and the next President still undetermined, international opinion voices confidence in stability of Atlasian temporary government and lack of any major incidents. As the "Times" concluded: legal mechanism seems to work just fine post-reset.

The Strange Case of LLR

Former Senator LLR left the country a while ago, but his twitter account, consisting mostly a commentary on Atlasian affairs, became far more active since deregistration. Some experts suspects Mr. LLR may suffer from severe withdrawal syndrome or even multiple personality disorder.

Unemployment

Due to a heavy workload in all federal institutions in a wake of tied election nationwide and regional unemployment statistics won't be released until tomorrow.

One Idea To Break The Tie

During a joint press conference Governors of Delaware and Maryland* announced they would support keeping Interim President Truman in office until the present term expires, rather than prolong the constitutional crisis. There is no comment on that from the White House of candidates' campaigns.

* Note: Yes, there are no playable state governments, but we must assume something like this exists as a non-playable institution. Just as we must assume there are NP municipal authorities

Labor Statistic Bureau On Strike

No, we are yet to have updated unemployment statistic. Most of officials within the Atlasian Bureau of Labor Statistics went on strike, demanding that both presidential candidates, Blair and NCYankee, would sign a document guarantying there won't be any political purge, filled via spoils system, when one of them takes office.

Breaking: Officials with the Census Bureau decided to proclaim a two day solidarity strike with their colleagues as the Atlasian Labor Statistic Bureau.

With a new President installed, Atlasia seems to have survived the constitutional crisis in a quite good shape, given no domestic violence happened and no one tried to take the advantage of the situation to overthrow legal authorities.

Although legal mechanism and the spirit of the rule of law worked out, political uncertainty did cause a moderate economic downturn.

Foreign Leaders Unsure of the Agreement

With President Blair taking office under terms of the Potomac Agreement, he was congratulated by the leaders around the world, there is a significant reluctance among them. A senior aide to the German Chancellor Angela Merkel reportedly said "it would be difficult to do serious business with President Blair, since he'll be pretty soon replaced by a man he competed against in the polls." The Mexican Government is especially worried about continuity in the wake of Blair's visit there.

British Parliament Split On The ABCMA

The British Parliament seems to be deadlocked over a key question to whom it should be up to ratify, or reject, the ABCMA: the parliament itself or a nationwide vote. After Brexit (as well as the very recent vote in Italy, which led to Matteo Renzi's downfall), the government is extremely reluctant to hold yet another referendum, although a number of backbenches MPs from all major partie argue that if the people had a say in leaving the EU, they should also have a say in entering another such agreement.
