I nominate Charleston, West Virginia. Simply to have an additional city on the ballot paper.

I think West Virginia is in the South, not the North.  At least, our proposed constitution doesn't mention WV as a Northern state.

Yep. Everything South of the Mason-Dixon line is part of the Southern Region.

It would've helped if I'd looked at the map correctly. Undecided

I'll nominate Detroit, Michigan instead.

Mr. Secretary,

Would it be in order at this time to introduce an amendment to the proposed Constitution?

Mr. Secretary,

If it is in order to propose this at the present time, I offer an amendment to the proposed Constitution.

Strike Section 9 of the "Declaration Of Rights", in its entirety, and replace with the following text:

"For the purposes of this Constitution, marriage shall be defined as the union of one man and one woman."

I yield.

The Committee has already drafted the Constitution and such an amendment would be illegal because marriage equality is already the law of the land, per the Supreme Court.

No, it would not. Sorry.

In any case, such an amendment as you proposed would violate federal law and would therefore be rendered null by the courts.

Someone has expressed preference for Philadelphia but I don't think it was nominated in the proper thread.

I nominate Philadelphia.

The victory against radicalism was a lot closer than it should have been.

Oh well. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Actually it wouldn't Truman. Marriage isn't purview of the federal government. It's for the regions to decide and the federal government gets no say. It's part of Federalism.

A sample ballot for this weekend's election is attached below. If y'all see any errors, let me know.

NORTHERN REGION
AUGUST 2016 REGIONAL REFERENDUM
SAMPLE BALLOT

1. This election will last for exactly 72 hours beginning at 12:00:00 AM (Eastern Standard Time) on Friday, August 12 and ending at 12:00:00 AM on Monday, August 15. All ballots cast outside of this period will be counted invalid.

2. You are eligible to vote in this election if you (a) have registered with the federal Census Bureau as a voter of one of the states of this Region; and (b) have not had your voting rights stripped as the result of deregistration or court order.

3. When voting for governor and Assembly, please rank the candidates that appear on the ballot in order of preference, with "1" indicating your first choice, "2" your second choice, etc. You may rank all, some, or none of the candidates on your ballot. If you wish to vote for a candidate whose name does not appear on the ballot, you may do so by writing his or her name in the blank provided. If you only wish to vote for one city, you may mark the space next to that city's name with an "X" or simply type the city's name.

5. You are permitted, but not advised, to edit your ballot within 20 minutes of posting it in this thread. Editing your ballot more than 20 minutes after posting it in this voting booth will cause it to be counted invalid.

6. Please check over your ballot thoroughly before you click "Post". You have no excuse for casting a ballot which contains errors or does not accurately reflect your preferences. Failure to correct errors in your ballot may result in its disqualification. While the alphabetically-ordered ballot below is provided for your convenience should you wish to quote this post, you may order the options on your ballot however you would like.

The new governor and delegates take office immediately, so go ahead and swear in! As I recall, the next session of Congress begins on Friday, September 2, which is when Scott will officially take his seat. Since Clyde was elected to the House of Representatives as well as to the Assembly, he will remain a delegate until September 2, at which point he will need to resign that office to assume his seat in Congress.
