I thought I would start up a new weekly poll to do here for each week of the general election season between the end of the conventions and the election itself (I think we did something like this in the past). There will be 14 full weeks before the election and we just went through the first one. Each week we can vote and discuss who won between the two major party candidates and why, or if the week was more of a tie.

So let's get started with week one of the general election, who won the week and why?

Feel free to use any criteria you like for who won, be it polls, fundraising, endorsements, media buzz, messaging, social media memes, TV campaigns or whatever combo of stuff you feel gave one or the other or neither the edge.

Clinton raised more money than Trump and consistently widened her lead in the polls, while Trump's idiotic and dangerous comments dominated the news and Republicans began abandoning him. Only a hack would say Trump won.

The candidate whose party didn't spend time openly debating whether or not their candidate should or would drop out of the race probably won the week.

Well Trump's campaign collapsed, but also Clinton gaffed about her emails. We all know that email server maintenance is the top issue for a plurality of American voters, especially in rust belt swing states like Ohio, so I'll say it was a TIE.

The media needs their horse race narrative.
