First time the organization has endorsed a Democrat for statewide office. They also endorsed the Republican, Josh Hawley, for AG.

It's a huge endorsement, but TNVolunteer is just concern trolling right now.  It's right on the border between toss-up tilt-R and Lean-R.

I hope that Missouri farmers are as powerful of a force as happy South Dakota farmers.

I know nothing about Missouri but Governing (the website for local stuff etc) has MO-Gov as Lean Democrat for the record.

Why is everyone so confindent of a victory of a Greitens victory. Literally the only thing working in Greitens favor is that Misssouri will vote for Trump.

Koster is loved by the farmers ever since he basically single handedly delivered the votes for Right to Farm.

This bureau has a lot of sway with farm, and rural voters could help Koster with them.

Koster could potentially win the NRA's endorsement - he won it in 2012.

And he's indicating he'll not veto a gun bill like Nixon did. Maybe a dual endorsement?

He's way ahead in the latest poll, btw.

This. You could rate it a Tossup, but I definitely think Koster has the advantage. I also think the Senate race is a Tossup. Missouri is really not that Republican when it comes to statewide and Senate races (See: 2012).

Btw: Looks like Koster might get the endorsement of the NRA as well.

Sorry, I was thinking of the Senate race Tongue  The Governor's race is toss-up tilt-D.  Koster may be able to push this to lean D closer to the election, but this race is probably gonna tighten quite a bit now that the Republican primary is over.

I have a friend who is high up from in the Florida Farm Bureau (worked on the campaign with her), and they seem to be all behind Republicans, especially Adam Putnam. Quite a big get for Koster.

Wow. Good sign for Koster the Farm Bureau is pretty conservative. I don't recall them backing any Hoosier democrats recently although I wouldn't be shocked to see them back Donnelly in 2018. Farmers are not a huge group but they are a strongly republican group. A crack in their support could make a difference in a close election.

Would they endorse Bayh?

I doubt it. In an open senate seat where they like both candidates I would guess the farm bureau would just stay neutral. Bayh I believe has good ties to the AG community but Young has always gotten their endorsements in his races.

If he won the NRA's endorsement over Greitens, and wins the governorship, and is considered a potential VP for a Democrat in 2020/2024/2028, won't he be seen as a "DINO"?

I don't think Koster has a future outside of Missouri.

If he serves two terms, maybe a Senate run in 2022 or 2024 depending on how the next two years shake out? Either way, zero real national impact. This is not the mid-2000s anymore.

Why not? You need a Midwesterner on a presidential ticket.

Sad!

Also, get your heads out of the clouds. This endorsement means no more than all the endorsements Marco Rubio got in the primary this year.

The Farm Bureau is actually a pretty big endorsement in states with a large agricultural community. The Marshall-Huelskamp race was neck and neck until Marshall got the KFB's endorsement, which was a key reason for him being able to pull away.

While I agree that people are overreacting to this a bit, primary endorsements are not the same as GE endorsements.

All of the Koster for Governor signs on farms all across Missouri are a beautiful sight when making your way through rural Missouri.
