On what topics are people most able to listen and consider widely different perspectives?

We know it's not generally partisan or racial or sexual politics, so what is?

well, if strategy to combat ISIS is considered an issue, that seems like the one that I've noticed most people are split on and therefore will consider all viewpoints. Even being very pacifistic myself, I try to hear out everyone's ideas (unless it's "carpet bomb the region") because there doesn't seem to be just one acceptable viewpoint.

As referenced above, definitely terror issues. They seem to transcend political lines becasue they're based primarily on foreign policy philosophies that are diversely represented in both parties.

Foreign Policy and International Relations issues mainly. But you can also have a civil discussion on Education, which is not an overly partisan topic.

Issues that the particular person doesn't care that much about.

All the people saying foreign policy seem to be forgetting Iraq/Vietnam tearing the country apart.

In the United States I think people are a less divided on economics and more on social issues and foreign policy than in other countries.

I think people may be a bit more open minded on criminal justice issues (not the death penalty) than on some other things.

For me personally, international trade and free speech are the two issues where I don't have much respect for the opposition, but just about everything else is up for grabs.
