I'd know the Democrats won every toss-up Senate seat + one wildcard, Hillary won in landslide, and America will be Great Again!

Poor Rhode Island. They don't even have a senate race this year.

That means that Clinton likely won by a large margin and that her job would be a lot easier.

Actually if it's a wave, it makes a Democratic house more likely than if there was no gerrymandering.

Too bad the Washington Post didn't say MO instead of RI. (Though Blunt would probably only lose in a Trumpocalypse.)

Hello liberal supreme court, DC statehood, new VRA, national redistricting reform, immigration reform, etc!!!

You just listed a good part of my dream scenario, but I think it's going to be somewhat harder to pass Congressional gerrymandering reform than one might think. Democrats who believe they might lose their seat due to changes in the maps might refuse to vote for such a bill, so it would take quite a lot of incentives to get their support. Given that such a majority would very likely be be razor thin, it might not even be possible unless they can either get all Democratic House Reps on board, or poach a few Republicans who think they'll have an easier time with fair maps.

I also wonder about DC statehood. As a former and hopefully again future resident, this is important to me, but I don't see much traction among the party despite the valuable edge it would give Democrats in the Senate.

The Dems aren't spending money on a no win situation. Kaine said Dems don't need the House. Justice Merrick will smooth over a lot of the issues like guns, immigration and campaign finance reform and gerrymandering for reapportionment. Dems will wittle the House down to 230 and take 4-7 senate seats.
