Has a presidential candidate ever threatened the life of their rival?  These are kind of new waters to tread.

We'll have to wait and see, but I think he's solidified her convention bounce at the very least.

Honestly, I doubt it. It will just keep the way it is right now. Her RCP average lead over the fake billionaire likely stays around seven points.

He has bottomed out, i.e. there is nothing that will antagonize his bedrock base of support.

I estimate that support will turn out 40% of the electorate in November--not close enough to win, even with Johnson and Stein at their current level of support.  The question is whether Trump can bring back some of the marginal voters he has turned off over the past few weeks.   It becomes harder and harder for him as we are well into August.

This numbers won't drop, but this will only help Clinton consolidate her lead.

No. Because he never "encouraged his supporters to murder Clinton." This is utter left-wing press nonsense.

I'm not left wing at all, and I haven't watched any media about what he said other than the actual clip of him saying it (I have no tv service, I only do Netflix).

Whether he meant it to sound the way it did or not, it IS what he said.

That is exactly what he meant, but only jokingly. I agree that the media is exaggerating his statement when it was just a joke, but then again Donald is an attention whore and this is what he always wanted--free press--since Hillary is outspending him $52M to $0 on campaign ads. Maybe if he hadn't antagonized the very media he relied upon in the primaries he wouldn't be getting targeted and torn apart in the headlines all day, every day. He brought this on himself, and it's fun to watch him struggle.

If you disagree with Seriously? on anything at all, you are a "fake" blue avatar or a left-winger; there really aren't any other options.

He didn't encourage his supporters to murder Clinton. He said that we can't vote for Clinton because people who disagree with her might murder her, which is so much better.

It is kind of the other way around.

It was obviously a joke/funny remark. And the good one [if one belives that Hillary is anti second amendment], if and only if it was told in front of a close friends [Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry].

It is like a good racist joke dirty cynical joke about the Russians/Chinese. You [as President] just don't tell those, if you don't want to start a civil war have bad relations with Russia/China.

But this will harm Trump; you therefore should be happy Smiley

His poll numbers might at some point increase slightly, but he's getting to the point of being completely done for.
