If the only choice was Gary Johnson/Bill Weld versus Jill Stein/Ajamu Baraka... which ticket would you vote for? Please explain why.

Note, this is NOT "generic Libertarian" versus "generic Green." These are the actual tickets in 2016. Who would you rather have as President, as commander-in-chief?

Even though I'm probably closer to the Greens ideologically, and I disagree with Johnson's economic/budget proposals...

the Johnson/Weld ticket is experienced and competent, two former popular 2-term governors, and I mostly agree with their other non-economic/budget policies (and hope Congress would check them on their economic policies, from shifting to a national sales tax only to cutting too much in the realm of regulations and spending/entitlements).

Stein/Baraka, on the other hand, don't seem nearly as qualified or competent. Fearmongering, ignorance, negativity, shameless pandering, conspiracy theories, etc. Maybe not as bad as Trump, but close.

Johnson, easily. I'm not a fan of his economic views, but he is someone who could at least be reasoned with, and I am confident he could handle the duties of the office. I would only vote for Stein if the only options were her and Trump, because at least she's not a racist.

Congress would not "check them on their economic policies."  There would be a massive, and likely successful push for deregulation and cuts to entitlements.  Nothing would be done about climate change.

The plus side is that the foreign policy would probably be okay.

Gary Johnson, at least, is not "moderate" - he's far, far to the right on economic issues.

Johnson/Weld, of course. These are pretty much mainstream American politicians.

LOL, no.  I'm voting for the guy, but libertarianism is, almost by definition, not mainstream.

Two former Republican office holders aren't within the political mainstream?

Clinton voter here; not even difficult. Johnson/Weld.  I like the executive experience, the dovish foreign policy is worrisome, but Stein would be much worse.  The theoretical justifications for marijana legalization seem rather logical, but as someone who has never used drugs, it simply doesn't rise to the top of my list of concerns. But hey, if President Johnson wanted to burn a bunch of capital on something i don't care about nor disagree with, thats fine with me. It leaves him less to enact economic policies i think go much to far.

As a side note, have any of you ever thought about just how devastatingly effective the ads AGAINST a national sales tax would be?? Absolutely every single product purchased by a retiree would instantly become (~15-20%) more expensive, with no positive change to balance it.  AARP would scream bloody murder.  Any individual who thinks the 'Rich' arn't paying their share would react viscerally to a leveling of the tax brackets (right or wrong), the positives that come from tax simplification are difficult to grasp for non-economists, and even more difficult to package politically.

This. I would have to vote Johnson, even if I'm much closer to Stein ideologically. As a left winger, I can't stand left wing conspiracy nonsense.

This. I'd be quietly on the sidelines for Jill Stein that night in all likelihood but certainly not cheering my head off.

ugh, Johnson. I've done a complete 180 on Stein and am considering changing my registration from Green to Independent after November. Johnson is much more capable to serve as President, whereas Jill Stein reminds me of Donald Trump in the sense that she has plenty of goals, but no feasible way of achieving them. Plus her running mate is completely nuts.
