Pull back to what? Are they thinking they can win with some other group of states? What the heck is their plan here?
I think the general idea is that when your opponent is drowning you throw them an anvil. So Trump is behind strongly in these trio of states. Why not make it so he's way behind in three more? And then three more after that? Prevent him from having any means for which to win in short.
You get the same number of electoral votes if you win by 3 or 13, and the election is 80 days away. Throwing that money at tossup states is much more efficient at this point.
