I've heard from friends that run the campaign in this area, that he's running a 50 State Campaign.

Clinton is, too.

I don't see her in Montana.

We're what? 80-something days  out at this point? A side trip to NM and a likely fundraiser is not the end of the world. How many times can you hit the same 10-15 states over and over and over again?

With only 80 days to win the presidency? As many times as the realities of this universe allow you.

Hillary is not even working weekends at this point. Trump is generally taking Sundays off. A dalliance into certain states if there's a fundraiser along the way is not a fatal blow.

I'm not saying it is a fatal blow, but Hillary is also currently leading by a good bit while Trump is trailing by a good bit. It's getting harder to justify these kinds of trips when trailing in basically every swing state.

No, guys, New Mexico is totally a swing state. I mean if you take away Bernalillo and Santa Fe, Romney almost beat Obama there! Just two counties! That proves New Mexico was truly a close state in 2012, and should be this year as well.

Pence just needs to show them the Twitter picture of Trump eating his taco salad bowl and saying he loves Hispanics and then we can move New Mexico into the tossup/leans R category.

What's even stupider is that Pence is going to campaign in the even Safer D New Hampshire.

NM has 5 electoral votes and has averaged about 2 points to the left of the nation in 21st century. It's the sort of state that a Republican wins when he's already won other swing states he needs more. The only reason to spend any time here at all is to bluff an opponent into investing resources.

The Trump-Pence ticket is heading to New Mexico to rob gullible donors for a losing campaign.  We know that Trump-Pence won't win New Mexico, but they might make some money by visiting.  Fortunately, Trump-ISIS won't be successful in their efforts to tear America apart.

New Mexico will stand firm against Trump and ISIS.

There's some Christian conservatives in the rural areas and more of the constitutional conservative types in the Massachusetts border area.

Neither of them will go for Trump but any objective observer will tell you MI would flip before NM would

According to observers and aggregators Michigan vs. New Mexico is basically equivocal (from the Upshot):

Right, but it's about the path to the upset. In Michigan it would involve turning out the white working class in historic numbers and reaching 2004 levels among the black vote. In New Mexico, you have to get back to 2004 levels among Hispanic voters. Neither is likely to occur but the former is a far better fit with Trump's constituency than the latter.

Especially since Bush won it in 2004 and almost won it in 2000. Trump loves Hispanics!

Guys, New Mexico is still a swing state, at least for the time being, though it is slowly slipping out of Republican reach.

George W. Bush did win the state back in 2004.

No, it's gone. The demographics and GOP writing off the Latino vote has skyrocketed since 04, and ground zero is New Mexico now being safe (Atlas) red.

Demographics have certainly changed and Trump's comments haven't moved the state toward him.
