There really is just no ryme or reason to this. Strange. Anybody know what caused the voting patterns here?

It should be noted that results of Presidential elections showed a similar pattern.

It should be noted that results of Presidential elections showed a similar pattern.

Ah I guess a better question would be what caused presidential level voting patterns in these counties.

There is a north-south ridge between Evansville and New Albany. The White River cuts through it, so you have more fertile areas to the east and the west, where the White River runs into the Wabash.

Like why did Boone County and Montgomery county vote differently? They're both flat counties with good farmland centered around towns of about the same size. Nowadays Boone is fairly suburban but it wasn't at the time.
