Outrageous. After all, a REPUBLICAN President displayed exemplary reflex and care during the previous disaster in Louisiana.

They voted for McCain and Romney. Let those two handle the mess. Both of them have plenty of money.

It's bad PR for Obama, who appears as if he's "checked out" for all but campaigning.  But, really, President's don't really go "on vacation".  They're always fully plugged in.

So what you're really saying is that if a state votes for the other party's candidate, then you won't help them because they didn't vote for you.

Aaannddd what is the Republican controlled Congress doing about a Supreme Court vacancy, Zika funding, authorizing war in Syria, and the flooding of Louisiana?  Oh, yeah, they are on a SEVEN WEEK VACATION!  Obama's fault!!!

So Obama is supposed to sit in an empty Washington DC playing with himself while the Republicans shut down the capitol and go home to chill?

Yeah that is a terrible way of thinking. A game of golf won't hurt anybody but that line of thinking will. He does realize that there are Democrats in Louisiana, right? THINK OF THE GOTHICS!!!!

The people of Louisiana need to see that there is leadership from the top being shown, which up until now has been glaringly absent.

And I am sure that the Louisiana Congressional delegation, all eight of them, have been doing all in their power to help as much as they could.

And quit making excuses for Obama's woeful lack of leadership in this crisis situation.

We had to pay for those tax cuts somehow, so no FEMA money for you. Besides, I get the feeling that quite a few Louisiana Republicans think that FEMA is building concentration camps like they've been babbling about for years now.

I'm curious, what's he supposed to do? Go tour it which does nothing? He can activate and authorize everything from being on vacation.

The people of Louisiana need to see...

That they are f-cked as long as Congress is controlled by Republicans.  Zika is going to kill a lot more people in Louisiana than this rain and of course where are the Republicans who run Congress... on a SEVEN WEKK VACATION!

I know winfield cares so much about Louisiana.  Strange thing is I looked for all his threads begging Republicans to fund the fight against Zika... but I couldn't locate them.  I smell the stench of a concern troll.

Didn't the Republicans try to pass a Zika bill that the Democrats blocked because it didn't allocate money to Planned Parenthood, or something?

That's precisely what local newspapers want him to do.

It's clear that people place value on leaders simply showing their face in times in crisis, that they're concerned enough by their plight to assess the situation on the ground. There's no reason leaders shouldn't be able to follow disasters from afar, sure, but it's generally regarded as bad optics when powerful politicians use their privilege to avoid dealing with one in person, especially when they're vacationing on Hawaii during a flood or on Bermuda during a snowstorm. People value actions more than they do words. This is normal.

President Obama should at least pop over and show his face for this reason alone. The fact that his party lambasted Bush for his aloof response to Katrina should provide only more incentive for doing so, lest they be accused of hypocrisy during an election year. He'll have plenty of time for vacations in just a few more months.

They voted for McCain and Romney. Let those two handle the mess. Both of them have plenty of money.

This is bad and you should feel bad.

Presumably you are posting a lie.  Why would a Zika bill fund Planned Parenthood?
