Ugh why did they even give the notes to them. It was obvious what they were going to do with it.

Makes sense to me.  Give them classified information that you know they are going to leak, so when they accuse you of being soft on Hillary you gently remind them they broke the law and are eligible for arrest.  Best way to get people to shut up about it.
