Will Trump hit Romney's numbers among white voters?

Romney won the white vote in 2012, 59% - 39%. I really don't see Trump improving *that* much (if at all) among white voters without Bachelor's degrees, and obviously his support among white college grads (with whom Trump has been underperforming anyway) has been tanking in recent weeks. So I am skeptical of any claim that Trump will improve on Romney's numbers among white voters; if anything, he won't even reach Romney's share of the white vote.

No way.  Romney's 59% with white voters was the strongest performance since Reagan 1984 got a whopping 66% of whites.  Romney killed it with college educated whites and white women, two groups that Trump is currently losing.  At this rate, Trump will probably get 52-54% of whites, even below McCain's 55% in 2008.

I have never been the typical Trump hack. I don't support Trump's policies. I just love his style.

No, he is doing worse amongst white men than 1 month ago, he is getting killed with white women, by 10%, a group Romney won by double digits and whites with a college degree, by as much as 10-15%.

Absolutely not. But he does have room to grow simply by driving up non-college-white turnout. Perhaps that can keep his overall drop among whites to less than it would be if turnout levels remained the same as 2012.

No chance.  At best I thought Trump might get 56-57% of the white vote, but he clearly isn't even going to do that well.  I concur with Arbitrage1980, 52-54% is likely.
