In my longstanding tradition of last minute campaign efforts, here's my pitch for re-election to the House.

I've been one of the most active members of the House since NCYankee asked me to step in mid-term. I've contributed amendments which I think most of those on both the right and the left would agree have improved the bills that have been put forward. I value my independence as a politician and a legislator.  I'm a conservative, small government person, but not an ideologue.   I'm concerned both by the abuses of big business and those of big government. I want to craft policies that recognize the full dignity and complexity of each human being.  I want to allow us all to reach our potential, while at the same time being responsible to the future in the use of our resources: financial, environmental, and cultural.

I hope you will consider a vote for me this weekend.

You were the only right of center candidate (non-Talleyrand of course) to get a preference from me, so semi-endorsed friend.

Looks like I didn't quite make it, but I'd like to thank those who voted for me.

Stay tuned.

You objectively deserved re-election more than probably anyone else--I find it absurd that the voters didn't agree. C'est la vie.

From across the aisle, you worked hard for things you believed in and took the issues on thoughtfully.

I thank you for your service.

Perhaps in my pitch to you about taking the seat, I shouldn't have said, "It will only be for three or four weeks".

#AccidentallyJinxed

Anyway, I made the right choice when I appointed you to my/Goldwater's seat. Smiley As I expected, you did a great job as you always do. However, we seem to never be able to keep you there long enough. Sad
