I don't know if Trump stokes this kind of hatred cynically, to gain support and followers, or if he genuinely is this racist.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that he doesn't believe much of anything at all, but is happy to use the hatred of others to aggrandize himself.  And that makes him a sociopath.
