The United Kingdom, until it leaves the European Union and moves behind Canada and Australia.

You can't be serious.

Actually, in its current rudderless state, the UK may go through a period where it is unable to exert influence in world affairs to nearly its potential. So no, it's not ridiculous to say that such a thing could happen, at least for a period of time.

At present, the UK is more powerful and influential than even a combined Canada and Australia, let alone either considered individually. Even if reduced to only England, it will remain No. 2 in the Anglophone world for at least the rest of this half century under any circumstances whatsoever. If Britain remains united, it's status as No. 2 is guaranteed for this century.

Influence in the international sphere is not determined by a country's population or economic size, it is determined exclusively by how others perceive and react to you. It is also not measured by potential, but identifiable impact. If you don't understand what I am saying, you need to read my post again. I recommend reading against starting at "Trump" while thinking of how the UK might exercise its influence in the world in the next 5 years and where it have to turn post-EU.

Nobody is talking about a breakup of the UK, which is both unlikely at this point and irrelevant on the world stage outside of Irish affairs.
