Ehh, it's been awhile since I've done something like this --

Alabama - Probably Florence/Muscle Schoals
Alaska - I would probably be least scared in Anchorage
Arizona - Flagstaff
Arkansas - Terrifying, so I'll just say Mena
California - San Diego
Colorado - Denver metro probably most tolerable. Don't know much about Pueblo, so maybe there
Connecticut - New Haven
Delaware - Wilmington
Florida - ideally none. I guess Pensacola so I could at least escape to Alabama
Georgia - Atlanta/Marietta - but don't mistake that for me liking it.
Hawaii - Lame. I guess any Maui beach town.
Idaho - Again, there's an escape route: Coeur d'Alene
Illinois - Maybe maybe maybe Peoria, but more likely Quad Cities
Indiana - No good option. Michigan City or Valparaiso maybe.
Iowa - Probably Iowa City, but all major cities plus Dubuque seem viable.
Kansas - Lawrence
Kentucky - Harlan Louisville
Louisiana - Yea NOLA is cool, but the weather...perhaps Lafayette
Maine - Not really sure - Bangor or Portland I guess.
Maryland - Bethesda
Massachusetts - Martha's Vineyard
Michigan - Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor
Minnesota - Like obviously Minneapolis, but I would give Duluth a shot even if it's built too much on the water
Mississippi - ugghhh, idk, Biloxi?
Missouri - St. Louis
Montana - Missoula
Nebraska - Omaha
Nevada - Las Vegas
New Hampshire - Dixville Notch more because all other options have nothing better than letting the world know my vote.
New Jersey - Princeton
New Mexico - Albuquerque by default
New York - New York (Kings County)
North Carolina - I'll cheat and say Research Triangle
North Dakota - Fargo
Ohio - Cincinnati
Oklahoma - I can't speak much to the cities themselves, but I'd probably enjoy Tulsa more than OKC
Oregon - Gravity Falls meh, Eugene
Pennsylvania - Philadelphia, with massive HM to Bethlehem
Rhode Island - Providence
South Carolina - Conway though Charleston has some sick places if you're rich
South Dakota - The whole state's miserable - give me Vermillion
Tennessee - Knoxville
Texas - Lean San Antonio
Utah - North Salt Lake
Vermont - if I'm living there, it's to be in the middle of nowhere.
Virginia - Williamsburg
Washington - Spokane
West Virginia - Morgantown by default but completely abysmal.
Wisconsin - Green Bay though I could see a lot of good ones
Wyoming - Laramie

Probably about 15 of these are actually viable.

Only going to do it for states which I've visited before.

Idaho: Twin Falls
Massachusetts: Boston
New Jersey: I guess Princeton
New Mexico: Santa Fe
New York: New York, favorite borough is a toss-up between Manhattan and Queens

AL: Jefferson County has some areas I might be attracted too (Mountain Brook, Hoover, Vestavia Hills). Huntsville and/or Madison might also appeal to me.
AK: Anchorage (same reasons as Smilo, pretty much)
AZ: Paradise Valley or Scottsdale within Greater Phoenix and prob Tucson metro too.
AR: Fayetteville, I guess.
CA: San Diego metro (SD proper, Carlsbad, Coronado etc...) most likely tops the list, but I also like parts of the LA metro  and even one or two places in the Bay area.
CO: Ugh, so many good choices here.  Ft. Collins is prob near the top of my list. Loveland, Lakewood and Westminster are good too. Aspen, Boulder would be awesome places to visit a ton.
CT: idk, whatever is closest to NYC.
DE: Ugh, I guess Rehoboth Beach or Dover.
FL: So many great choices. Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Miami Beach, Boca, Hollywood, Hallandale Beach etc... I'd have to say Ft. Lauderdale would be my #1.
GA: Atlanta Metro (Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Alpharetta etc...) or maybe Savannah too.
HI: Honolulu because I have no grasp of Hawaii tourism, real estate or geography.
ID: Coeur d'Alene
Illinois: Skokie, or any decent suburban Chicago area, I guess. Can't ever see myself living in IL,  tbh.
IN: Indianapolis for a bunch of good reasons.
IA: Iowa City or Des Moines... not a bunch of good choices for me.
KS: Overland Park, Lawrence or Olathe would be good.
KY: Louisville or Lexington would be ok, but I lean towards Lexington.
LA: Baton Rouge
ME: Not sure, I heard Maine is an awesome state. I feel like I'd want to live in a decent sized city like Portland but have a ton of summer-time trips to Kennebunkport, Ogunquit, Camden, York and Old Orchard Beach.
MD: Rockville, most likely. Followed by Bethesda and other D.C.-metro MD cities. I wouldn't mind living in some Baltimore suburban cities either (Pikesville, Reisterstown, Owings Mills etc...)
MA: Boston and its near by areas Swampscott, Newton, Sharon and also Martha's Vineyard.
MI: Ann Arbor would be swell. Mackinac Island in UP seems like a cool place to visit.
MN: Minneapolis, most likely.
MS: lol...Biloxi? Gulfport? somewhere on the coast i guess.
MO: Suburban St. Louis, maybe. More likely that I'd prefer somewhere near KC, though.
MT: Idk, Billings?
NE: Omaha or Lincoln would do nicely.
NV: Las Vegas
NH: Manchester, I guess.
NJ: Central Jersey (New Brunswick, Edison, Elizaberth, Marlboro etc...)
NM: Albuquerque.
NY: NYC or Long Island.
NC: Charlotte/Charlotte Metro
ND: Fargo, because no other options.
OH: Columbus Metro
OK: OKC Metro or Norman.
OR: meh. I'll copycat Smilo again and say Eugene.
PA: Pittsburgh/Pittsburgh Metro and Erie (lived there most of my pre-college life). Lived in Waynesburg until recently...don't want that anymore lol.
RI: Newport
SC: Charleston
SD: Sioux Falls, meh.
TN: Nashville or Knoxville.
TX: Dallas/Ft. Worth (including Denton, Plano etc... as well).
UT: SLC
VT: Burlington
VA: Live in NOVA currently, pretty content w/ it.
WA: Somewhere in Seattle or Tacoma... maybe Vancouver.
WV: Morgantown or Charleston
WI: WOW or Green Bay
WY: Cheyenne

South Carolina: not sure
Georgia: Savannah
Florida: Orlando
Delaware: Lewes
New Jersey: Atlantic City (sadly)
New York: NYC
Ohio: Cambridge Ohio (same as Harper's Ferry)
California: Santa Monica

My picks (not doing every state):

CT: Probably New Haven, though Hartford is a good pick too.
FL: Miami..."cause you gotta have cheese for the summer house piece on South Beach" -- Will Smith
MA: Boston, of course.
NY: NYC.  Favorite borough is probably Manhattan....it's where the action is.  If you love nature, and small little vacation towns, then Lake George is for you.  I've spent many an enjoyable summer vacation there.  Smiley
PA: Philly, with Hershey as a close second.
VA: Richmond.  I also like the Charlottesville area...many Civil War battles were fought near there.

Kentucky: Louisville, Paducah, or one of the Cincinnati suburbs
Louisiana: New Orleans

West Virginia: Morgantown
Wisconsin: Racine, maybe Milwaukee
Wyoming: Laramie (the very name evokes images of the Wild West)
