I really like Gary Johnson, but I really, really preferred the continuity Ron Paul version of Johnson from 2012 than I do this Johnson 2.0 experiment in moderate Republicanism.

Thank you for reassuring me that my 2012 vote for this opportunist was not a colossal mistake.
No. I still like Johnson, but he's adapting to conditions in rather embarrassing way.

I'm voting Johnson since Trump and Hillary are unacceptable, but I am upset that he's making a play for disaffected liberals rather than presenting himself as the true conservative alternative to Trump.
The "true conservatives" lost. They failed to hijack the GOP from Trump and I'll be damned if they hijacked the Libertarian Party too. The "true conservatives" in the GOP are the reason we have Trump to begin with. The GOP needs to embrace the changes that are happening.

Mitt Romney has a place in a Johnson administration? Oh, let me change my vote from Trump now. /sarcasm

Go away Johnson. Go far, far away.

If it gets Johnson/Weld more votes solidifies #NeverTrump Republicans, so be it.

#NeverTrump + #NeverHillary + moderates/independents = winning

The Johnson/Weld one. This is what I feared happening with a Weld VP pick and desperation to appease everyone. I wish I didn't think that, but I do. I'll still vote for them obviously but they're making jokes out of the Libertarian Party.

The Libertarian Party has never hesitated to be willing shills for the big-business, socially-liberal Rockefeller wing of the GOP. Johnson is just the latest iteration.
Aside from the Barr/Root ticket and perhaps Ed Clark, I don't think they ever deviated too far away from their principles. Even Johnson in 2012 ran on a genuine libertarian platform.

Bob Barr was such a terrible nominee for them. The guy was one of the most un-libertarian Republicans possible when he was in Congress. And then he ended up returning to the GOP anyway a couple of years later.

Ed Clark adopted a strategy similar to the one Johnson appears to be using by oversimplifying libertarianism into "liberalism with lower taxes."

I was poking fun at the two "main" campaigns...but maybe they aren't "true libertarians" but they are still a hell of a lot closer than Trump or Hillary.  They are pushing more centrist (and I'm more centrist these days too because I think government, small government has a role to play, and I believe healthcare is a right and can be taxed because we all need it)...so, for an election this broad?

Yes go centrist, pull everyone in.

They ought to convince Bill Weld to stick around, if only because he's very valuable as far as fundraising and knowing how to actually manage a serious political party.

The Libertarian Party is just the Moderate Republican Party at this point.
Uh, did you even watch their convention?

Of course not, I have a life.
I don't know how you miss the argument about whether the government should issue drivers' licenses and the guy stripping naked on stage because he didn't get elected LNC chair.

No, the guy ran for Chair just so he could get on stage and strip, then he dropped out. Big difference Tongue.
