Why was Hillary's approval rating so high in 2013. Even the media was hyping this up. I like her glasses/long her look in 13 but damn. I remember the memes about her blackberry photo. 60%+ approval rating hahaha. Joe Biden was right people love you when you're not running for president.

media hype in 13'

Long story, yes. She wasn't running for anything yet. It's a pretty simple issue, Hillary's favourables drop when she's seeking election and rise once people remember she's actually good at her job.

I tend to agree and it's kinda redundant to ask this again. It just amazes how perception can change quickly of a person throughout the decades.

It's more that her approvals rise when she's more of a non-political figure. When she led healthcare reform efforts circa 1993 her ratings were dire but were later impressive during the Lewinsky scandal (when she was merely the wife of an adulterous president). Then she announced a run for the Senate in 1999 and her ratings dropped and didn't go into the 60s until the moment she was chosen as SoS (which is a fairly non-political position o/c).

In chronological order:

1) GOP/Right wing media's Benghazi obsession shift from blaming Obama to blaming Clinton.

2) Clinton actually running bringing partisans in line.

3) The media wanting a competitive race effectively brands Clinton as the "boring", "establishment", "politics as usual" candidate and moon over big Sanders rallies.

4) E-mail scandal blows up. GOP/media milks it for all that it is worth and then some.

5) "Currupt Hillary" talking point most devastatingly being reinforced by the left.

E-Mails and right-wing propaganda. Nothing new. Fox “News” and consorts fought the Clintons for decades - and failed time and time again. And they will also this time around.

Major Atlas forum faux pas here in that you confused approval ratings and favorability ratings.

The Republicans and the media didn't viciously attack her and manufacture faux scandals daily.

Sure it has something to do that she's now running for a job. A lot of it right-wing propaganda, but she made some really bad mistakes which have been exposed now.

People did care. They liked her. But the GOP and the media needed a horse race, and the rest is history.

That is the truth. But Hillary does give them things to attack her with, however slight or major they are. And however slight or major they are, everything gets blown way out of proportion....which becomes very tiring.

Thank God for Trump because he makes her look mighty good no matter what she does.

Having been Secretary of State just recently she was away from the domestic political scene. That's why SoS' usually has high approvals.
