I don't see why you can't do both. We should really get moving with actual legislation.

I agree. Let's get moving. What's first, the SOAP?

That's up for you to decide, but yes.

What do I do with the SOAP if I think we should start discussing it?

Look at the other legislation threads in the regional sub-forum. Use them as examples to post the SOAP in a new thread for us to discuss, debate, amend, pass, etc that legislation.

If we adopt the SOAP, we will have an issue.

I would think that could be amended.

Additionally, I ask someone sponsor a bill scheduling Clyde's special election for next Friday.

Additionally, I ask someone sponsor a bill scheduling Clyde's special election for next Friday.
Per the Constitution, special elections are slated for the first Friday following the occurrence of the vacancy; if the vacancy occurs on a Thursday, the special election is held on the second Friday thereafter. So, if Clyde resigns this Friday, the special election would be on September 9.

Is this where I'd appoint the Lt. Governor?

Thanks! But does this mean I can't be speaker?
In the SOAP that we're debating, it says that the positions can't be held by the same person - although we could change it, before it's passed, to make the Lt Governor the Speaker, I guess.

So it depends on when Clyde chooses to resign for how long his seat is vacant?

I think the article can be amended to have LLR as both Lt. Gov. And Speaker.

I would just like to point out, y'all will have to schedule another special election for my departure. I'll still handle this election, but you have to elect a new speaker, and Flo has to appoint a new Lieutenant

Agreed.  I just fired off a PM to Flo.  Hopefully, she'll have a nominee for us within the next day or so.

Well if Speaker/Lt. Gov is separate, can I appoint a representative to be the Lt. Gov or a private citizen?

It has to be an Assembly member:

What don't you understand about the fact that, since I am no longer in this assembly, I am no longer Speaker/Lt. Gov.
